Basketball Game Preview: LaFayette Ramblers vs. Gilmer Bobcats

LaFayette is 0-10 against Gilmer since December of 2016 but things could change on Saturday. The LaFayette Ramblers will head out on the road to challenge the Gilmer Bobcats at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

LaFayette will head into Thursday's contest hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 42-point drubbing they dealt Unity Christian on Thursday. LaFayette claimed a resounding 67-25 victory over Unity Christian. The Ramblers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 27 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Gilmer hadn't done well against Fannin County recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Gilmer enjoyed a cozy 57-38 win over Fannin County.

Gilmer is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for LaFayette, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.

LaFayette came up short against Gilmer when the teams last played back in December of 2021, falling 44-37. Can LaFayette avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
