Basketball Recap: Makai Allen's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Provo over Layton Christian Academy

Provo played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Layton Christian Academy Eagles, falling 74-49. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Makai Allen, who posted 16 points. Allen's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Castagnetto, who put up ten points.

Layton Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tyrin Jones led the charge by going 6 for 11 en route to 12 points along with eight boards and four blocks. The dominant performance gave Jones a new career-high in blocks. Another player making a difference was Albert Ntungicimpaye, who went 6 of 8 to rack up 17 points.

Provo's defeat dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Layton Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season.

Provo wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 74-66 win against Mountain View on the 7th. As for Layton Christian Academy, they have also already played their next game, a 48-25 victory against Timpanogos on the 7th.
