Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only West Jefferson walked away with it. They had just enough and edged out the Cardington-Lincoln Pirates 3-2 on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Roughriders sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

West Jefferson's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-2-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cardington-Lincoln, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-5.

Looking ahead, West Jefferson will face off against Danville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Roughriders 1.5, the Blue Devils 1.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. Cardington-Lincoln does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
