Basketball Preview: Carter Cowboys vs. Lincoln Tigers
Carter is 0-10 against the Tigers since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Carter Cowboys will head out on the road to square off against the Lincoln Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Carter scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Pinkston as Carter made off with a 64-40 victory. The win was nothing new for Carter as they're now sitting on three straight.
Tyari Ray continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 33 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Miracle Thomas, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Lincoln waltzed into their matchup last Friday with 16 straight wins but they left with 17. They blew past Pinkston 65-22 at home. Given Lincoln's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while the Vikings are ranked 1039th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lincoln got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kayla Crowder out in front who scored 13 points along with four steals. Crowder is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jada Patterson, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Carter pushed their record up to 14-8 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points per game. As for Lincoln, their victory bumped their record up to 22-3.
Carter was dealt a bruising 69-15 loss at the hands of the Tigers in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Lincoln's Ar'Jayla Elder, who scored 22 points along with eight steals. Now that Carter knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
