Lamar County triumphant thanks to a strong effort from Shakiria Foster

Recap: Lamar County Trojans vs. Morgan County Bulldogs

The Lamar County Trojans waltzed into their matchup Saturday with eight straight wins but they left with nine. They managed a 54-48 victory over Morgan County. Given Lamar County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while Morgan County is ranked 213th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Shakiria Foster was her usual excellent self, scoring 32 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Lamar County's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Journi Harris, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.

Despite the loss, Morgan County still got an impressive performance from Jaden Young, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.

Lamar County's win bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Morgan County, they now have a losing record at 7-8.

Lamar County and Upson-Lee will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Upson-Lee is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Morgan County, they will be playing at home against Academy of Richmond County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: NaCja Johnson and Young.
