League recap: Florence's Walls delivers best pitching performance from past week

4A Region 6 league recap: 4/3/13

Seth Walls was the top pitcher in 4A Region 6 this week, leading Florence. He picked up one win and 13 strikeouts.

Magee had a successful week, as it won four total games to lead the league. The Trojans beat Port Gibson 15-3, the Blue Waves 15-0 and Mendenhall 9-6.

Magee put three runners on via walks this week, fewest in the league, but Richland's staff still boasts the league's best control, having issued only six bases on balls over seven total innings.

The league boasted 12 .400 hitters over the past week. They were led by Devon Zattoni, who hit .636 this week (7-for-11).

The Tigers' Chocolate Hubbard led the league this week with three home runs. His six home runs on the season place him at first in the league.



Drake Roberts threw a shutout as he led the Trojans to victory over Port Gibson, 15-0, on Thursday. He pitched four scoreless innings and struck out seven, while giving up one hit.

Hubbard drove in four runners on Thursday in the Eagles' 6-5 victory over Mendenhall. He went 3-for-4 and scored two runs.
