Softball Game Preview: Field Falcons vs. Revere Minutemen

The Field Falcons will head out on the road to challenge the Revere Minutemen at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Field came out on top against Springfield on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fifth inning. The Falcons' pitchers stepped up to hand the Spartans a 10-0 shutout. That's two games straight that the Falcons have won by exactly ten runs.

Revere's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Brunswick on Saturday. The Minutemen put the hurt on Normandy with a sharp 20-1 win. The Minutemen's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Revere got a great performance from Avery Stein as she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. What's more, Stein posted two strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2024.

At the plate, Revere let Paige Kelley and Alexa Kelley run wild. Paige went 2-for-4 with eight stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI, while Alexa got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. With that strong performance, Alexa is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Gianna DeRubeis was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Revere was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .581. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .387 or higher in five consecutive matchups.

Field has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Revere, their record is now 18-6.
