The Camden County Bruins will head out to face off against the Granby Comets at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Camden County's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Manteo with a sharp 21-0 victory. The Bruins' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Ellie Barker and Kaitlynn Barnes did most of the damage at the plate: Barker went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs, while Barnes went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. What's more, Barker posted four RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Julia Doppler, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Meanwhile, Granby got the win against Norview on Tuesday by a conclusive 15-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Comets.
AJ Lomogda made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Lomogda was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two doubles and one RBI.
In other batting news, Mackenzie Pastorious was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Caelah Garcia was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Granby always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .694. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Norview only posted an OBP of .286.
Camden County's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-7. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Granby, their record is now 8-4.
