Baseball Recap: Pine River-Backus Gets the Win

Pine River-Backus never let their opponents score on Monday. They walked away with a 5-0 win over the Ogilvie Lions. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Eli Abraham was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Pine River-Backus' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 4-7 when he doesn't). Owen Dabill was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Pine River-Backus now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Ogilvie, their loss dropped their record down to 11-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pine River-Backus will host Blackduck at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ogilvie, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Crosby-Ironton at 4:00 p.m.
