Basketball Game Preview: Central Chargers vs. Academy for Classical Education Gryphons

Central is 4-0 against Academy for Classical Education since January of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Central Chargers are taking a road trip to challenge the Academy for Classical Education Gryphons at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Tuesday, Central didn't have too much trouble with Northeast as they won 59-45.

Meanwhile, Academy for Classical Education was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost to Southwest at home by a 71-55 margin. While losing is never fun, the Gryphons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 468th, while the Patriots are ranked 39th).

Central will need focus on slowing down Camden Bailey, one of several Academy for Classical Education players who made an impact when they last played. He went 5 of 11 en route to 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylon Davis, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 14 points and seven boards.

Academy for Classical Education's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Central, their win bumped their record up to 7-11.

Everything went Central's way against Academy for Classical Education in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as Central made off with a 74-50 victory.
