New-look Lakers feature overhauled roster eyeing seventh straight GEICO Nationals nod.
No. 15
La Lumiere (La Porte, Ind.) has consistently proven it can deal with a large roster
overhaul. The Lakers lost four starters prior to the 2019-20 season yet still finished 23-3 and wound up No. 8 in the final MaxPreps Top 25.
La Lumiere earned its sixth consecutive
GEICO Nationals invite last season (though the event was canceled due to COVID-19) with a combined 151-15 record during
that time period.
The perennial powerhouse
features an abundance of frontcourt depth as Vincent Iwuchukwu,
Kebba Njie, Treyton Thompson and Rocco Muratori are all capable big men
with Division I interest.
A trio of talented underclassmen transfers fill the backcourt for coach Pat Holmes as Jeremy Fears Jr., Ryan
Mabrey and J.J. Starling enter the picture.
La
Lumiere will compete in the newly-formed National Interscholastic
Basketball
League, which features powerhouse national programs including Hamilton
Heights Christian Academy (Chattanooga, Tenn.), Legacy Early College
(Greenville, S.C.), Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.), Oak Hill
Academy (Mouth
of Wilson, Va.), Sunrise Christian Academy (Bel Aire, Kan.) and Wasatch
Academy (Mt. Pleasant, Utah).
