Softball Recap: River Valley Drops Highest Score of Season Against Highland Prep

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask River Valley). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Highland Prep Honey Badgers a 21-0 shutout on Monday. Winning may never get old, but the Dust Devils sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Sophia Reyes was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 4-for-4. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in February.

In other batting news, Bella Navarro and Tamarie Williams did most of the damage at the plate: Navarro went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Williams went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI Navarro has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Morgan MacDonald, who scored three runs while going 4-for-4.

River Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .865. They are undefeated (12-0) when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

River Valley's record is now 15-4-1. As for Highland Prep, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. River Valley will face off against Chino Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Highland Prep, they will challenge ALA - West Foothills at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
