AAA District 12 recap Sept. 26, 2012

McGavock moved up to 131 from 157 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in AAA District 12. The Raiders were able to make the jump by beating the Raiders 32-20.

Cane Ridge extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating McGavock, 32-20. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.

Julius (Jay) Gore's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Deanthony Patrick threw for 61 yards and Chris Claybrooks had 20 yards receiving. On the ground Patrick chipped in 101 yards. Jackson Moore helped McGavock's passing attack out by catching one ball for 17 yards.

D'angelo Jones made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Raiders fell to Cane Ridge. The 6-foot-1 junior racked up three sacks.

McGavock's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Raiders feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Patrick has thrown for 603 yards and four touchdowns this season, while Claybrooks has 11 catches for 191 yards. Patrick also leads the league in rushing with 430 yards.

Two of the top units in AAA District 12 will face off this week when McGavock takes on Hunters Lane. The Raiders' offense has recorded 89 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while the Warriors have permitted only 272 on the year.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Jonathan Parks's team takes on Glencliff. As it stands, the Ravens are in first, while the Colts are in sixth.

Overton took down Hunters Lane 44-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
