Volleyball Recap: Cambridge Victorious

Cambridge proved they can win big on Friday (they won by three) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Montrose 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Gryphons: when they faced off against Montrose back in September, they had to take a 3-1 loss.

Cambridge was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 20-25, 23-25, 25-22, 15-5.

Sofia Shultz was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had 19 digs. That's the most digs she has posted since back in September.

Cambridge was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 23 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least ten aces every time they've taken the court this season.

Cambridge is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Montrose, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Looking ahead, Cambridge will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Brimmer & May at 5:15 p.m. Montrose does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
