Soccer Game Preview: Waukegan vs. Libertyville

Waukegan is 0-9 against Libertyville since April of 2017 but things could change on Thursday. The Bulldogs will face off against the Wildcats at 6:45 p.m.

Waukegan managed to keep up with Stevenson until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Bulldogs came up short against the Patriots, falling 5-2. While losing is never fun, Waukegan can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 191st, while Stevenson are ranked 26th).

Ashley Melgoza and Kaylan Acosta scored both of Waukegan's goals, bringing their combined season tally to five goals.

Meanwhile, Libertyville kept a clean sheet against Mundelein on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 2-0. Libertyville haven't had any issues with Mundelein recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

This is the second loss in a row for Waukegan and nudges their season record down to 7-9-2. As for Libertyville, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1-3.

Waukegan suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Libertyville when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
