Softball Recap: Eastern Alamance's Run of Six Straight Wins Now Over

After flying high against Person last Wednesday, Eastern Alamance came back down to earth. The Eagles fell just short of the Western Alamance Warriors by a score of 6-5 on Friday. The Eagles' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Delani Straughan was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, Olivia Foster led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-3 with one home run. Brylea Warren was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Eastern Alamance's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 12-5. As for Western Alamance, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Western Alamance will challenge Oak Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Grizzlies will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight. Eastern Alamance will be paying especially close attention to Western Alamance's matchup: after Western Alamance faces off against Oak Grove, they'll take on Eastern Alamance again at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
