Wills Handberry commands the offense for Vikings win

Recap: First Presbyterian Day Vikings vs. Gatewood Gators

The First Presbyterian Day Vikings can finally bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They walked away with a 76-64 victory over Gatewood. The win was all the more spectacular given First Presbyterian Day's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 472nd, while Gatewood is ranked 234th).

First Presbyterian Day's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Wills Handberry, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Handberry has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Reynolds Handberry, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Several Gators players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kaden Keiser, who scored 15 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Matt Allen, who scored 25 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

First Presbyterian Day's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-10. As for Gatewood, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. First Presbyterian Day will take on Tattnall Square Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Gatewood, they will be playing at home against Augusta Prep Day at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
