Baseball Recap: New Prairie Beats Mishawaka for Their Fourth Straight Win

New Prairie proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 17) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Mishawaka Cavemen 3-1. That's more bragging rights for the Cougars, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Sullivan Kress spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Reed Robinson was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double. Beau Kmiecik also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

The win (which was New Prairie's fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Mishawaka, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-10.

New Prairie didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-5 win against Rochester on the 24th. As for Mishawaka, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Mishawaka Marian on the 24th.
