Basketball Recap: Hubbertville's Run of Five Straight Wins Now Over

If Hubbertville was feeling good fresh off their 82-61 takedown of Phillips on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hubbertville Lions took a 71-57 bruising from the South Lamar Stallions on Tuesday. The Lions' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

When it comes to explaining why Hubbertville lost, don't look at Kane Rushing. Despite the final result, he went 10 of 22 en route to 30 points in addition to five boards and four steals. That's the most steals Rushing has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Blaize Wakefield, who went 6 for 7 on his way to 19 points and five assists.

Hubbertville's defeat dropped their record down to 20-6. As for South Lamar, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-12 record this season.

Hubbertville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for South Lamar, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Lamar County at 7:00 p.m.
