Basketball Game Preview: Chester Yellowjackets vs. High Island Cardinals

The Chester Yellowjackets will head out on the road to square off against the High Island Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Chester and ten for High Island.

Chester is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Brookeland on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Chester had to suffer through a 96-36 loss at the hands of Brookeland. The Yellowjackets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 53-12.

Meanwhile, High Island opened the new year with a less-than-successful 47-40 loss to Burkeville.

Chester will have to contain Cam'Ron Medina as he made an impact in High Island's last game. He posted 32 points. That was a full 80% of High Island's points, marking the 15th time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points.

High Island's defeat dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Chester, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.

Chester came out on top in a nail-biter against High Island in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, sneaking past 43-40. Will Chester repeat their success, or does High Island have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
