Basketball Game Preview: Geneseo Blue Devils vs. Le Roy Oatkan Knights

The Geneseo Blue Devils will head out to square off against the Le Roy Oatkan Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Geneseo is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Avon just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 66-58 to the Braves.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Caleb Rice, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 20 points. What's more, he also racked up four assists, the most he's had since back in January of 2024. Jackson Willis was another key player, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards.

Meanwhile, Le Roy entered their tilt with Letchworth on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They took down the Legends 68-49. Given the Oatkan Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while the Legends are ranked 388th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Le Roy's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-2. As for Geneseo, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-2.

Geneseo came up short against Le Roy when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 51-44. Thankfully for Geneseo, Merritt Holly (who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 18 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
