Soccer Game Preview: Lincoln vs. Pioneer

The Lincoln Lions will head out on the road to challenge the Pioneer Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lincoln took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Branham a 2-0 shutout.

Meanwhile, Pioneer's game on Wednesday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They won by a goal and slipped past Christopher 1-0. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 329th, while the Cougars are ranked 795th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pioneer pushed their record up to 4-3-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those four contests. As for Lincoln, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2-1 and their overall record up to 3-4-3.
