Capital extended their losing streak to five on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 12-13 in the process. They lost 13-2 to the Manzano Monarchs. Surprisingly, this marked the Jaguars' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

As for Manzano, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-12. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games.

For Manzano's part, Dayton Clay spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up eight Ks. Clay also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Monarchs are 3-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 8-11 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aljaris Pineda, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, three doubles, and three RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Braeden Lucero, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Manzano beat Capital by a score of 17-3 later that day.
