Basketball Recap: Fairless Takes a Loss

Fairless was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 60-57 heartbreaker at the hands of the Tuscarawas Central Catholic Saints. The Falcons lost against the Saints in their previous head to head back in January of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 64-34 score last time.

Tuscarawas Central Catholic was led to victory by Jayce McCollins and Brysen Grimes. McCollins went 7 of 13 en route to 26 points along with six steals and five assists, while Grimes went 9 for 18 on his way to 22 points and six boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Grimes has scored at least a third of Tuscarawas Central Catholic's points.

Fairless' defeat dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Tuscarawas Central Catholic, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-13.

Fairless and Tuscarawas Central Catholic could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Fairless (ranked 758th) will meet Northwest (ranked 131st) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Tuscarawas Central Catholic will take on Malvern at 7:30 p.m. on Friday down 629 places (783 vs. 154).
