Basketball Game Preview: Pemberton Hornets vs. Burlington Township Falcons

The Pemberton Hornets just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Burlington Township Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

Pemberton is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Cinnaminson just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 53-40 to the Pirates. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while the Pirates are ranked 30th).

Meanwhile, Burlington Township had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.7 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Wednesday. They took down the Blue Devils 70-53.

Burlington Township's win came from a few key players Pemberton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Quayd Hendryx, who went 8 for 13 en route to 18 points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Baron Davis, who went 8 of 18 on his way to 16 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds.

Burlington Township smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Burlington Township pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.7 points per game. As for Pemberton, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Pemberton and Burlington Township were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in February of 2024, but Pemberton came up empty-handed after a 60-59 defeat. Can Pemberton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
