Soccer Game Preview: Seward vs. Northwest

The Seward Bluejays will take on the Northwest Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Seward's last three contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Tuesday, Seward needed a bit of extra time to put away Lakeview. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Vikings 2-1.

Meanwhile, Northwest came tearing into Friday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 goals), and they left with even more momentum. Their defense stepped up to hand the Tigers a 5-0 shutout. Considering Northwest have won 11 games by more than two goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Hastings with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Guadalupe Sanchez (2), Leah Carlson, Evelyn Poland, and Evie Keller.

Northwest pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 25 goals over those three contests. As for Seward, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.
