Basketball Game Preview: IDEA Riverview Rockets vs. Raymondville Bearkats

The IDEA Riverview Rockets will square off against the Raymondville Bearkats at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

IDEA Riverview is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their match on Tuesday with ease, bagging an 86-50 win over IDEA Frontier College Prep. While the Rockets didn't have the best season last year (they finished 1-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Meanwhile, Raymondville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 67-63 heartbreaker at the hands of Santa Rosa.

IDEA Riverview will have to contain Colt Cavazos as he made an impact in Raymondville's last game. He dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Cavazos is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Jaden Mendez was another key player, going 6 for 13 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds.

Raymondville's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for IDEA Riverview, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 6-4.
