Softball Recap: Durand Railroaders vs. Kearsley Hornets
Durand couldn't beat Kearsley on Wednesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the fourth inning. The Railroaders took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hornets. That's two games in a row now that the Railroaders have lost by exactly four runs.
Kinley Shepard and MaKenzie Jones stepped up to the plate in a big way. Shepard went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Jones went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kayla Copeland, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Durand has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Kearsley, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Looking ahead, Durand will face off against Mt. Morris at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Kearsley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Linden at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
