Softball Recap: Petersburg Takes a Loss

Petersburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 23-14 to the Borden County Coyotes, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Coyotes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 23-14 on Wednesday.

KYNLEE OVALLE was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was CADY MENDEZ, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Petersburg's loss dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Borden County, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Coyotes beat Petersburg by a score of 20-8 on Thursday.
