Baseball Game Preview: Lincoln Mustangs vs. Washington Eagles

The Lincoln Mustangs will head out on the road to square off against the Washington Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lincoln is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.

On Saturday, Lincoln came up short against San Lorenzo Valley and fell 11-8.

Aidan Castaneda put in work while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. He has become a key player for Lincoln: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-9 otherwise.

In other batting news, Nicholas Chiu made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. He is becoming a predictor of Lincoln's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 6-9 when he doesn't). Jerry Hou was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Meanwhile, Washington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against St. Patrick-St. Vincent, falling 7-1.

Lincoln's record is now 10-10. As for Washington, their record now sits at 7-13.

Lincoln got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against Washington by a conclusive 11-5 score. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
