Recap: DeSoto Thunderbirds vs. Tunica Academy Blue Devils
The DeSoto Thunderbirds had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35.8 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They secured a 43-39 W over Tunica Academy. Given DeSoto's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 99th in Arkansas, while the Blue Devils are ranked 245th in Mississippi), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
DeSoto's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Carsyn Gore led the charge by scoring 17 points along with six steals and five assists. Gore is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Allie Reynolds was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight steals.
DeSoto is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season. As for Tunica Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
DeSoto does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Tunica Academy also has no future games currently scheduled.
