Recap: Slinger Owls vs. Nicolet Knights
If the Slinger Owls were feeling good off their 68-45 takedown of the Kewaskum Indians last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Slinger took a 70-53 bruising from Nicolet on Friday. While losing is never fun, Slinger can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 182nd, while Nicolet is ranked 37th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Nicolet to victory, but perhaps none more so than Damon Landrum jr., who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Davion Hannah, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Slinger has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Nicolet, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Slinger will head out on the road to face off against West Bend West at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Nicolet won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Lindblom at 2:00 p.m. on January 6th. Lindblom knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matchups -- so hopefully Nicolet likes a good challenge.
