Softball Recap: Blue Mountain Has No Trouble Against Craftsbury Academy

Blue Mountain had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They never let the Craftsbury Academy Chargers get on the board and left with a 23-0 win. The game marked the Bucks' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Kaylee Hamlett made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. Those stolen bases were her first of the season.

In other batting news, Blue Mountain got a massive performance out of Ava Kingsbury, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Kingsbury also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Tori Florentine, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI.

Blue Mountain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .593. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Blue Mountain's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Craftsbury Academy, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blue Mountain will welcome Danville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Craftsbury Academy, they will host Richford at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
