Softball Recap: Gainesville Snags Eighth Win in Last Nine Games

Gainesville's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Buchholz Bobcats by a score of 7-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-2 back in March.

Josie Kirwan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Adriana Koralewski was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Olivia Lockerman was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Gainesville is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Buchholz, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gainesville will host Santa Fe at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Buchholz, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Bartram Trail at 6:30 p.m. The Bobcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
