Softball Recap: Ten Straight Home Victories for Shelbyville

There's no place like home for Shelbyville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over the Cathedral Fighting Irish on Thursday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Gracie Crafton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Addison Stieneker was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Shearer, who went 2-for-4 with one home run.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Shelbyville lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April.

Shelbyville pushed their record up to 17-11 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Cathedral, their loss dropped their record down to 23-1.

Shelbyville didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-0 defeat against Center Grove on the 24th. As for Cathedral, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 6-4 loss against Logansport on the 23rd.
