Basketball Game Preview: Wartburg Central Bulldogs vs. Oliver Springs Bobcats

Wartburg Central and Oliver Springs are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2021, but not for long. The Wartburg Central Bulldogs will head out to face off against the Oliver Springs Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Last Friday, Wartburg Central was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 54-50 to Sunbright. The loss continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, Oliver Springs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 56-50 heartbreaker at the hands of Oneida.

Wartburg Central's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-6. As for Oliver Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-11.

Wartburg Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Oliver Springs in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, sneaking past 55-53. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wartburg Central since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
