Soccer Game Preview: Kellam vs. Ocean Lakes

The Kellam Knights will square off against the Ocean Lakes Dolphins at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Kellam will come into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.

Kellam's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed two weeks ago. They blew past Green Run 8-0. Kellam's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last four contests.

Meanwhile, Ocean Lakes was not the first on the board on Tuesday, but they got there more often. They had just enough and edged out Tallwood 3-2. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Ocean Lakes' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 26th, while Tallwood are ranked 207th).

Kellam pushed their record up to 7-0-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three matchups. As for Ocean Lakes, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.

Kellam came out on top in a nail-biter against Ocean Lakes when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dolphins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
