St. Mary Catholic came tearing into Saturday's game with three straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Wabeno/Laona Rebels. For the Zephyrs, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 win the Rebels walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.
Luci Nackers paced St. Mary Catholic's offense, picking up six kills. Nackers got some help from Sammi Weiss and her 11 assists. Nackers was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.
Wabeno/Laona's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reese Connor, who had 14 assists and five digs. Connor is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 13 or more in each of the last eight games she's played.
St. Mary Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Wabeno/Laona, with the defeat, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games.
