Valley recap Oct. 3, 2012

San Marcos moved up to 369 from 414 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Valley. A 27-26 win over Rancho Bernardo helped the Knights improve their standing.

San Marcos and the Broncos played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with San Marcos eventually emerging with a 27-26 victory. Cory McKesson ran for 93 yards and caught three passes for 101 yards in the win.

Jason Texler's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Kyle Lewis helped San Marcos' passing attack out by catching four balls for 83 yards.

Drew Olson put up the best numbers through the air as the Knights defeated Rancho Bernardo. He finished with a total of 14 completions for 181 yards and one touchdown.

Thanks to the talents of Olson and McKesson San Marcos has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Olson leads the league in passing with 940 yards, while McKesson has rushed for 454 yards this season. Mt. Carmel's Tevin Malone leads the league in receiving yards with 298 on nine catches.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Del Norte takes on Valley Center. As it stands, the Nighthawks are in fifth, while the Jaguars are in first.
