Softball Game Preview: Hackley Hornets vs. Ursuline Koalas

The Hackley Hornets will face off against the Ursuline Koalas at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hackley has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with three straight losses, while Ursuline will come in with seven straight victories.

On Friday, Hackley came up short against Poly Prep Country Day and fell 7-3.

Andrea Hegarty spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Gabrielle Paes was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Ellie Firsenbaum, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Meanwhile, Ursuline made easy work of Mamaroneck on Monday and carried off an 11-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Koalas, who have now won five games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Hackley's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Ursuline, their victory bumped their record up to 7-0.
