Baseball Recap: Marion Takes a Loss

Marion came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 12-4 to the Richlands Blue Tornado. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 18, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Mason Pugh made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Peyton Ratcliffe also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Marion's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13-1. As for Richlands, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-10.

Looking ahead, Marion will venture away from home to challenge Graham at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Scarlet Hurricanes are facing the G-Men at the right time seeing as the G-Men are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Richlands, they will be playing at home against Tazewell at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.64 runs per game on average), something the Blue Tornado will no doubt try to take advantage of.
