Baseball Game Preview: Clinton Gaels vs. Oakmont Regional Spartans

Clinton hasn't had much luck against Oakmont Regional recently, but that could start to change on Sunday. The Gaels will host the Spartans at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Clinton 3.3, Oakmont Regional 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Friday, Clinton needed a bit of extra time to put away Littleton. They won by a run and slipped past the Tigers 2-1. The Gaels haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Braydan Huban spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brian Silvester, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Nelson, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Meanwhile, Oakmont Regional has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.44 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Wednesday. They lost 11-0 to Wachusett Regional. The game marked the first time this year in which the Spartans were not able to get on the board.

Clinton's victory bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Oakmont Regional, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-4.
