Baseball Recap: West Mifflin Drops Season-High Score on Uniontown

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Mifflin). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Uniontown Red Raiders a 14-0 shutout on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Titans in their matchups with the Red Raiders: they've now won seven in a row.

Jackson Fite looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Chase Maggio was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Derek Tudek, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

West Mifflin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in four consecutive matches.

West Mifflin's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Uniontown, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Looking ahead, West Mifflin will face off against South Allegheny at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Uniontown, they will square off against Bethlehem Center at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
