Recap: Lytle Pirates vs. Crystal City Javelinas
The Lytle Pirates stacked an 11th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Crystal City 62-35 at home. Winning may never get old, but Lytle sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
It was another big night for Calyssa Sevier, who dropped a triple-double on 31 points, 12 rebounds, and 13 steals. Sevier is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Arianna Garcia, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds.
Crystal City's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Vianey Garcia, who scored eight points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Alyson Mata, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds and three steals.
Lytle is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season. As for Crystal City, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-14.
Lytle will head out on the road to take on Natalia at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Natalia focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Friday. As for Crystal City, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Dilley at 6:15 p.m. Dilley has now lost 17 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 18.
