Baseball Recap: Lake Country Lutheran Snags Seventh Win in Last Nine Games

Lake Country Lutheran got themselves on the board against Luther Prep on Thursday, but Luther Prep never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Phoenix. Considering the Lightning have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Jack Poellot was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Jackson Menzel was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Preston Manthei, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Lake Country Lutheran kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in seven consecutive contests.

Lake Country Lutheran has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Luther Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-14-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lake Country Lutheran beat the Phoenix by a score of 12-7 later that day.
