Softball Recap: Cypress Creek Has No Trouble Against Dr. Phillips

Cypress Creek won the last time they faced Dr. Phillips and things went their way on Tuesday too. Cypress Creek put the hurt on Dr. Phillips with a sharp 7-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

Amanda Cintron made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Brianna Velez was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Alondra Lozada, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

The win made it two in a row for Cypress Creek and bumps their season record up to 10-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Dr. Phillips, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cypress Creek will welcome Ocoee at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cypress Creek's pitchers better be ready for this one: Ocoee has averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season. As for Dr. Phillips, they will take on Freedom at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
