Baseball Recap: Taft School Victorious

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Taft School ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hotchkiss School Bearcats, sneaking past 5-4. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-4 back in April.

Owen Palmer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base.

Palmer wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cayden Van Dolah, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one double. Taft School is undefeated when Van Dolah posts two or more runs, but 5-7 otherwise.

Taft School's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-7. As for Hotchkiss School, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.

Looking ahead, Taft School will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Tournament Opponent at 3:00 p.m. Hotchkiss School does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
