Basketball Game Preview: Circle Thunderbirds vs. McPherson Bullpups

Circle hasn't had much luck against McPherson recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Circle Thunderbirds will head out on the road to challenge the McPherson Bullpups at 6:00 p.m. McPherson took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Circle, who comes in off a win.

Circle is headed into the game having just posted their biggest victory since December 14, 2024 on Friday. They put the hurt on Winfield with a sharp 48-26 win. The victory continues a trend for the Thunderbirds in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won six in a row.

Meanwhile, McPherson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a blow against Hays, falling 60-29. While losing is never fun, the Bullpups can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 180th, while the Indians are ranked fifth).

The win got Circle back to even at 7-7-1. As for McPherson, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.

Circle couldn't quite finish off McPherson in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 and fell 54-52. Can Circle avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
