Volleyball Recap: Phoebe Schmitt Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Lackawanna Trail

Western Wayne won the last time they faced Lackawanna Trail and things went their way on Thursday too. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Lions. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Western Wayne was: they took every set by at least 11 points. The final score came out to 25-5, 25-14, 25-9.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Western Wayne to victory, but perhaps none more so than Phoebe Schmitt, who had seven aces. Those seven aces gave Schmitt a new career-high. Raegan Fox also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Western Wayne now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Lackawanna Trail, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-15.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matches. Western Wayne will face off against Holy Redeemer at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lackawanna Trail, they will square off against Forest City at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
