Baseball Recap: East Providence Extends Winning Streak to Three

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but East Providence ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Portsmouth Patriots 7-6. The win was just business as usual for the Townies, who after three games remain undefeated this season.

Timothy Robitaille made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Robitaille was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, East Providence got a big performance out of Brian Rutkowski, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Aidan Martins, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

East Providence was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.

East Providence's record is now 3-0. As for Portsmouth, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

East Providence has already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Narragansett on the 4th. As for Portsmouth, they will face off against North Kingstown at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
